FEDERAL GRANTS
Grant Name: Enhancing Biomedical Engineering, Imaging, and Technology Acceleration at HBCUs (UG3) (NIH)
Summary:  This program aims to enhance bioengineering and imaging research capacity, technology innovation, education and research training, and opportunities for scientific growth at HBCUs in order to utilize the nation's full range of talent in meeting the growing need to accelerate the development and translation of high-impact biomedical innovation and technologies. The HBCU BEITA initiative will provide funding to strengthen the research capacity and technology innovation at HBCUs, accelerate technology development and implementation, and prepare students at HBCUs for careers in biomedical engineering, imaging, and technology.
Eligibility: There are no eligibility restrictions.
Dates:  LOIs are recommended 30 days before due dates in January 2024, September 2024, and September 2025.
Grant Name: Unveiling Health and Healthcare Disparities in Non-Communicable and Chronic Diseases in Latin America (R01) (NIH)
Summary:  This program supports innovative, collaborative, and interdisciplinary research focused on clinical epidemiology, evaluation of public and/or health care policies, and validation of measurements that address health and healthcare disparities related to non-communicable and chronic diseases with the highest disease burden and mortality in Latin America and among U.S. Hispanics/Latinos. 
Eligibility: There are no eligibility restrictions.
Dates:  LOIs are due 30 days before standard NIH dates through October 2026.
Grant Name: Modern Equipment for Shared-use Biomedical Research Facilities (R24) (NIH)
Summary:  This program invites qualified academic or research institutions to apply for funding support to purchase latest equipment that will enhance and modernize research-supporting operations of existing shared biomedical research facilities. Targeted are laboratory research core facilities, animal research facilities, and other similar shared-use research spaces. The goal of this program is to strengthen research-auxiliary activities of biomedical research facilities and to enhance the efficiency of their operations.
Eligibility: There are no eligibility restrictions.
Dates:  Proposals are due by November 15, 2023.
Grant Name: Field Initiated Projects Program (Research) (HHS ACL)
Summary:  This program aims to generate new knowledge through research or to develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technologies to maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family/caregiver support, and economic and self sufficiency of people with disabilities, especially people with the greatest support needs. In carrying out a research activity under a Field Initiated Projects research grant, a grantee must identify one or more hypotheses or research questions and, based on the hypotheses or research questions identified, perform an intensive, systematic study directed toward producing (1) new scientific knowledge, or (2) better understanding of the subject, problem studied, or body of knowledge.

Dates:  Proposals are due by December 11, 2023.
Grant Name: Cognitive Neuroscience (NSF)
Summary:  This program seeks to fund proposals that can advance our understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying human cognition and behavior. Funded proposals typically advance theories in cognitive neuroscience by relating precise and rich quantifications of physiology, cognition and behavior with each other. Funded proposals also typically strengthen the field through, for example, outreach, mentoring the next generation of diverse cognitive neuroscientists and/or increasing awareness and utilization of the research the field produces.
Eligibility: There are no eligibility restrictions.
Dates:  Proposals are accepted at any time (with two deadlines per year).
FOUNDATION GRANTS
Grant Name: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: Distinguished Investigator Innovation
Summary:  AFSP invites applications for its Distinguished Investigator Innovation grants program, which will provide grants of up to $150,000 over two years to investigators at the level of associate or full professor with an established record of research and publication in suicide. Research grants program priority areas include diversity, evaluation of technological tools for suicide prevention, and survivors of suicide loss.
Eligibility: There are no eligibility restrictions.
Dates:  Proposals are due by November 15, 2023.
Grant Name: Gerber Foundation: Pediatric Health Research
Summary:  The Foundation invites applications for research projects to identify solutions to common everyday issues and problems in children’s health, nutrition, and/or development. Research program focus areas identified by the foundation include pediatric health, pediatric nutrition, and environmental hazards (nutrient competitors; e.g., projects that document the impact of or ameliorate the effects of environmental hazards on the growth and development of infants and young children).

Dates:  Concept papers are due by November 15, 2023.
Grant Name: Retirement Research Foundation: Projects in Aging
Summary:  The Foundation accepts applications for its grantmaking program to support projects directly impacting adults aged 65 and older. Each priority area will allow the organization to fund innovative and effective projects that support the ability of older people to live fully in community settings. Within these areas, RRF will continue to award grants involving advocacy, direct service, professional education and training, research, and organizational capacity building.
