FEDERAL OPPORTUNITIES
Grant Name: FY2024 Farm to School Grants (USDA)
Summary:  This program is designed to increase the availability of local foods in schools and help connect students to the sources of their food through education, taste tests, school gardens, field trips, and local food sourcing for school meals. Grants can launch new farm to school programs or expand existing efforts. This competition plans to award projects of 24 months in length for funding up to $500,000. Applicants are required to provide matching support of at least 25 percent of the total project budget in the form of cash or in-kind contributions. 
Eligibility: IHEs (among other entities) are eligible to apply.
Dates:  Proposals are due by January 12, 2024.
FOUNDATION OPPORTUNITIES
Grant Name: Teagle Foundation: Education for American Civic Life
Summary:  The foundation invites applications for the Education for American Civic Life initiative, which supports efforts to prepare students to become informed and engaged participants in the civic life of their local and national communities. Through this program, the Foundation will elevate the civic objectives of liberal arts education by partnering with institutions offering bold and coherent initiatives that endow students with the content, skills, and sensibility to participate in a political system designed for self-governance.
Eligibility: Apart from the focus on liberal arts education, there are no eligibility restrictions.
Dates:  Concept papers are due by December 1, 2023.
